We all know the benefits of working out for your mind and body, but did you know that working out can help to detox your skin as well? Elevating your heart rate while working out a few times a week sends oxygen to the surface of your skin, while also pumping nutrients throughout your body. Directly after your workout, it is important to be kind to your skin… AKA it is not the time to exfoliate. The biggest mistake people often make in their post-workout skin care regimen is being too aggressive with their skin. You give your muscles time to repair post-workout, so extend some of that time to your skin also! Exfoliating and scrubbing can further dehydrate your skin causing dry, flaky or rough patches. Instead, choose a gentle cleanser like SOOTHE or UNBLEMISH from Rodan and Fields to cleanse the skin and help get rid of any bacteria left on your face.


Give your skin some love! Although your workout may have left your face feeling flush and moist from sweat, it also left your skin dehydrated (think sweat = moisture evaporating). Applying a hydrating toner mist or serum before you apply your moisturizer will help balance the pH of your skin, while rehydrating and calming enlarged capillaries that give you a flushed appearance.

Moisturize, Protect and Repair

During the day, follow up with a lightweight moisturizer that contains SPF to protect your newly hydrated skin from the sun. After your evening workouts, use an oil free moisturizer without SPF. Using an SPF free moisturizer before bed will allow your skin to regenerate and repair while you sleep!

1: WATER WATER WATER. Drink plenty of water throughout the day, especially on workout days!

2: Avoid wearing makeup during your workout. Let your pores breathe!

3: Avoid touching your face, and instead use a clean towel to wipe away any sweat.

4: Wash your face with a gentle cleanser IMMEDIATELY after your workout.
